As a life long resident of Celina, Ohio and after completion of a military obligation, I began a 32 year career in the US Post Office.  Upon retirement I began to pursue a lifelong interest in painting.

My wife, Judy, has "tolerated" my compulsive interests, and for many years we participated in American Indian culture.  We have visited lots of places and met our share of "characters" along the way. Because of these experiences, I developed an interest in creating personal memories by putting snapshots to canvas.  As you can imagine, family and friends began saying, "Hey Doug, can you paint something from this for me?"  So here I am now, happy in my retirement from the post office, and doing what I really enjoy... creating art "Just For You".

My work is often displayed at The Richardson Bretz Building in Celina, Ohio  and Wassenberg Art Center in Van Wert, Ohio.  I am a member of the West Central Ohio Art League, Ohio Water Color Society, and the Visual Arts Network.  My work has received numerous awards in surrounding art shows and has been accepted in many juried competitions

Please visit "Art for Sale" and "Just for You” to see some of what I have done.

Artist : James Michael Kahle
Rockford, OH. 45882
Glass Blowing / Glass Artist

James Michael Kahle produces glass art forms in a contemporary style. Artworks range from paperweights to large glass and steel fountains,  large vessels, abstract desktop sculptures, life-size castings of humans, floor and table lamps that incorporate steel and stone, tables and works for the garden. Each piece is custom made and unique in size, shape and color. James Michael also creates vessels that are soft, organic and often asymmetric in shape.

"I enjoy working with a client to create something unique. It doesn't matter if its that one special piece that sets off the new house, making multiple works to add sparkle and drama while tying together a whole suite of offices, or working with a team to create a large scale work, the pay off is when you see their eyes get wide and the smiles began to grow when they see the completed work."

James Michael began blowing glass in 1990 at the Toledo Museum of Art. Since then, his work has been shown in numerous exhibits in the United States and abroad. James Michael's work is held in public and private collection in the United States, Mexico, Hungary, Germany, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, and the Netherlands.

James has also been awarded grants under the Master Apprentice Program funded through the Ohio Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, allowing him to pass on his glass making skills to an apprentice.

Additionally he is actively involved in local civic and community leadership activities. His artwork builds on a lifetime of experiences in a wide variety of activities in other career fields.

About the Artist

Every one of us have our own unique "story" to tell. God gifts us all in different ways. We are never, ever alone as long as we remember where these gifts come from, and how LOVED we are!

We have been especially blessed with our four children; Dave, Karen, Jeff and Jody. And they have given us daughters-in-law, Charity and Tammy; sons-in-law Clarence and Rich. We are now Grandparents to 10; Jasmine, Stephanie, Scott, Azure, Stephen, Alex, Ali, Kara, Anthony and Logan. And now, GREAT Grandparents to our Avery.

All our children are living their own stories now, some in faraway places. they now think of Ohio as "home", just as I think of Billerica as "home". Remembering it all with love, they won't soon forget, either. Our beginnings play a large part in shaping us into who we eventually become.Over the years I have encountered great friends, tucked away in my heart wonderful people, full of unselfish love for family and friends. Many of the portraits I've done are from these good people who have great Faith, and always, Hope. I draw the hope. It's the music of Love.

Vincent D. Whitehead and his wife is Cheryl make up the artistic
team of R-tistic ReCreations. They have been married for over 26 years now and have three adult children. They live in Harrod, Ohio and love the quiet rural setting. Vincent's life work is his art and
his wonderful wife has committed her life to helping him promote it when ever and where ever they can. Since they both have full-time jobs, their lives stay very busy juggling work with his artistic love. It is a task that is a true labor of love.
Vincent has been drawing most of his life. Approximately 12 years ago he started to do work for other folks. His wife encouraged him to do more serious work and with that he began what turned out to be the fulfillment of a search that had been going on for years. He believes God has created everything in and around us, and has a piece and joy that comes from re-creating, with his pens and other mediums, things in nature and things that have been built by God’s greatest creation, Man.
Vincent's life has been influenced by God through the rural settings around him here in Northwest Ohio and has developed a love for the country. This started from his mother’s family who were farmers here in Ohio and his father's family who were farmers in Michigan. As a child his grandfather would take him on his bulk milk route and they would go all through the country stopping at the dairy farms. So it was natural that he would grow to love and respect all
things country.
Most of his work is centered on the homes, farms, barns, sheds, and other scenes of the midwest. He has made it his personal goal, through his art work, not to let people forget the country roots of our nation. With his wife Cheryl by his side and being his strength and greatest encourager, Vincent hopes to preserve some of those hidden, out-of-the-way scenes with his pens.

We hope you enjoy seeing his work and  hope that you will follow the drawings as we do. Please join Vincent on-line at www.rural-route-one.net on his “Works In Progress”page to see what he has been up to lately.
